Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Wishes I’d Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me (Oct. 20, 2015)

4e5c3-toptentuesday

What another beautiful Tuesday! (I dunno, is it beautiful where you guys are?) Well, anyway, with Tuesday comes Top Ten Tuesday presented to us by The Broke and The Bookish and this week’s theme is: 10 Wishes I’d Ask The Book Genie to Grant Me. Woo! This was actually kind of hard… :p Let’s see how well I prevailed, shall we?

1) Hogwarts
Oh come on. Everyone knew this was coming. I mean, who doesn’t want to run around a giant castle with talking portraits, moving staircase, hidden rooms, a dungeon! I mean, it’d be the most awesome thing ever! No one can deny that! Naturally, I’d be hangin’ with all my Slytherins in the dungeons by a fire, perhaps petting my cat evilly. I suppose I should go practice my evil chuckle, but first to finish this list.

2) Library
I want a library. Not just a library, but a library hidden in the octagonal corner of a Queen Anne style house. The only way to access it will be a revolving fireplace in the corner of the living room, therefore making it hidden and the room will have a single spiraling staircase all the way to the peak of the tower. Yeah. That’d be perfect. ^.^ *drifts off into dreamland*

3) Endless amounts of reading time
Well, this is a duh! I only have at least eight books sitting on my nightstand at the moment all vying for my attention, but alas I don’t have the time. I have lots of time. However, there’s so much else that I must do with my time. I wish there were extra hours of the day, which didn’t drain me of energy, that were designed just for reading. That would make my day.

4) Hoverboards from ‘Uglies’
Hoverboards would probably be more amazing than anything ever! I’m not sure I’d read if I had a hoverboard. I’d be far too busy looking like a badass trying some neat flips or something. (and oh-so-ungracefully falling on my butt :p) Yeah, that’d be cool. I think I might take it over reading, but that’s a tough decision. We’ll wait and see until they come out with a overboard and then I’ll have Marty McFly teach me how. :p

5) Cornea Slips from ‘The 100’
I think these would be my absolute favorite choice for communication. You just write something with your eyes, send it with your eyes, read messages from other people with your eyes. Screw phones. Screw texting. Cornea slips are the way of the future! (Unless they blind you. That’s not cool. I’m already pretty much blind… >.>)

6) Another Hunger Games
Woah! Before you all go climbing down my throat. I want another Hunger Games novel because of how epically amazing the world building was, and how well planned the Games were. I mean, a clock?! That’s awesome! I think I just really want the world more than the actual games. World building has its own scale of epicness.

7) Direwolves from ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’
Oh come on! Who wouldn’t want a pet wolf?! I mean, I think every child who’s owned a dog, and maybe even those who haven’t, had fantasized about owning a wolf at some point in their life. I mean, didn’t anyone read ‘The Dog with the Golden Eyes’ when they were younger? I know I did!

8) Read in Multiple Languages
This one I want because there are so many things that get lost in translation from one language to another that sometimes important parts of the novel get lost. For that reason I want to have the ability to read in multiple languages and understand them. I don’t want to miss a thing when reading. This would make it easier. I’ll even kiss random boys to learn their languages like Starfire if I have to.

9) Transport to a Book’s World
This would be awesome! Imaging being able to transport yourself to any world you’re reading about and actually experience that world! You could live in it for a while and just poof yourself back whenever you were done. Back in the real world no time would pass. You’d even be able to just pause the book world and pick it up later! It’d be the most amazing thing ever! Even better than time travel! Bam! *made that way more complicated than originally planned*

10) Stop Authors from Sinking my Ships!
Please! Goodness gracious! I’m all like ‘yes! them! put them together!’ Character dies. REALLY?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! *dies* Ugh… I would totally be happy if I could find a series that was being written and tell the author ‘these two are getting together! I don’t care what you have planned! It’s gonna happen! *threatens with a wand*’ Authors be like:

And…. that’s my absolutely, completely, and totally insane Top Ten for this week. What about you? What wishes do you have for the Book Genie? Do we have any in common? And more importantly, do you think I’m completely nuts yet? :p
(P.s. I may just have to make a book where the reader can transport into books or write the series where the readers get to pick mid-series who should be shipped. Yeah. I like that. *doesn’t have time* >.>)

SHOUT OUT TO ALL MY SLYTHERINS!

  1. I have to admit again, I have never read harry potter…I know I know I should be ashamed. My sister read all the books and loved them, and I watched all the movies with her and they were great. I wonder what house I would be in… Also Endless amounts of reading time would be great. I love your wishes. I also hate when authors sink my ship.(Jenny Han, Why Did she choose PETER!?)

  2. Um, I’m pretty sure Hogwarts is real, but my letter is lost. The owl had would have to come all the way to Australia, so he’s a little late. Haha, I totally agree about Hogwarts and the library! 🙂

  3. Speaking of being transported into books… doesn’t that happen in Cornelia Funke’s Inkheart? Granted, I haven’t read it in years, but I’m pretty sure that’s the premise of the book. 😀

    1. Say what?! Oh man! I bought Inkspell years ago not realizing it was the second book in the series and I never got around to reading it. *Sigh* Now I’m gonna have to back and find the first book to read the series, you know, just to torture myself because I’ll never have that ability. *tear*

  4. Seriously it actually upsets me that Hogwarts isn’t a real place! J.K has set me up for disappointment for my entire life because I didn’t get into Hogwarts! I would love to be able to transport to different book worlds! That’d be incredible. And like on the sly, you could go hang out with your fav love interest or protagonist! Your library sounds amazing! I always imagined that I’d create a secret library one day! I want mine behind a fake bookcase – like pull a book out and the thing spins! Fantastic wishes! Now can they please all come true!!!

    1. Haha! I think you and a billion other people feel the same way about being jipped out of going to Hogwarts, but people are trying to make amends for her what with Pottermore and Hogwarts is Here. Though, I admit it will never be the same. *sigh* I still really like the idea of a dungeon common room. Perhaps that will be part of my secret library. :p A girl can dream, right? Haha!

Oh dear! If I could jump into books to hang with love interests or protagonists, I’d be screwing up plots left and right. :p Because everyone knows that the best OTP involves the reader. Duh! haha! ^.^

  5. Great post! Transporting to a book world is my dream. As well as Hogwarts, a library, and lots of reading time. Before Pottermore changed there website, I took the quiz and got gryffindor. Hmmmmm. . . I guess I can’t read your blog now. Just kidding XD although I don’t understand how one can get Slytherin.

    1. Thank you! ^.^ I had a feeling my first few would be pretty common, but I wanted to mix it up with some special powers. Hee hee!

Oh dear! Gryffindor! *rolls eyes* :p I guess you’re right. We can’t be friends. (and if you’ve read any of my Monday novel prequels or darker flash fiction fridays I think you’d understand real quick why I’m a Slyherin. ^.^ I embrace the dark side! MWAHAHA! *cough)

      1. Yeah, I took the quiz and told my friends and they were like ‘wow, I feel bad for Harry, Ron, and Hermione’ because I talk a lot. I guess I would be the Colin Creevy.
