Month of Thanks

Month of Thanks: Day 10

Day 10: Technology

Technology. As much as I hate it and how badly I’d love to chuck it all out a second story window some days, I’m afraid that I wouldn’t be able to live without it. Call me a millennial, if you must, but it’s true. Technology has become such a novelty and such a commonplace item in first world countries that we hardly know how to function without it.

Technology is the reason we have mass and individual transportation, cellphones and e-mail, computers and TVs, the internet, e-books, espresso machines, watches, gym equipment, home heating and air conditioning, medical equipment, indoor plumbing, iPods and video games.

So much of our lives, the things we take for granted every single day starting with an alarm clock, all exist because of technology. As much as I hate it, I’m not quite sure how I’d function without it. For that reason I’m thankful and I need to remind myself to be thankful every day, even when technology seems to want to spite me because I can’t imagine a world without technology.
