Day 12: Pain
Now, bear with me on this one because I realize this sounds strange. However, I’m grateful for pain. Pain is our body’s alarm system. It tells us when something is wrong, when we’re injured or unhealthy. Pain is there to inform us that we need to fix something so that we may become healthy again. Without pain, I never would’ve known when I broke either of my feet(yeah, I’m a clutz. :p) Without pain we wouldn’t know that we have bronchitis. Without pain we wouldn’t know that our appendix has burst and we need immediate surgery. Yes, the pain is annoying, and yes, it hurts, but that’s the point. The more it hurts, the more something’s wrong. For that I’m grateful for pain.
Additionally, I’m grateful for pain because it reminds me that I’m human. I’m not invincible. I’m not superwoman. I can get hurt, or injured, or even die, and instead of running around like I’m not Colossus from X-Men. Some times it’s good to be careful. Pain reminds us that, while we may think we’re indestructible, we have our limits and some limits are not meant to be pushed.

Ah! Yes. Chronic pain is one of those things that I can’t honestly say that I’d be thankful for because of the negative impacts it has on people’s lives. I hope you do not suffer through something like this, Nicola.

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that, Nicola! At least you’re stronger than it! I see it in your voice and the joyful tone of your blog posts and comments! Keep staying strong and if you need someone, I’m here. ^.^

Thank you Melanie, that is such a kind thing to say. I’m glad that is how I come across, I do try to stay positive, there are people dealing with worse illnesses than me. I have sjogrens, similar to arthritis and also a thyroid problem which luckily has been fine for the last two years.
I think it’s important to see the positive and focus on the things that are going right in our lives. It’s brilliant that you are doing these posts. There is a lot to be grateful for 💕

Wow. You are even stronger than I originally thought! I’m glad that the thyrod has at least been in control and you are absolutely right. There is /so/ much to be grateful for. Most of them are things we take for granted, too.
