Day 20: Dance
A rumba. A waltz. A jitterbug. A tango. A hustle. A Foxtrot. A jig. Whatever you call it, it’s still dance. Dance comes in as many styles and techniques as there are ethnicities of people and each one is just as unique and vibrant as the next. Dance has been around for centuries. It’s been a part of every culture and exists on every continent. Even other species dance. Each one may have a different reason for dancing, but everyone and everything dances.
Some people say they can’t dance and I think that’s hogwash. While there may be competitions and classical training to teach people to dance, there are plenty of other forms that don’t require such things. Personally, I think that whomever wants to dance, can dance. Dance isn’t about looking good. It’s not about impressing someone. It’s about having fun. It’s about releasing your inner spirit in your own way. That is dance! That is why I’m grateful for dance, because it shows the individuality we each have and yet brings us all together again.
