Month of Thanks: Day 24

Day 24: Clean Water

I am grateful for clean water. To many living in first world countries this may sound like a simple thing, but just think about the number of people in the world who don’t have access to clean water. Their water is tainted, dirty, foul. It’s water, but it’s not clean. It’s drinkable, but it causes disease. It’s there, but there’s barely enough to drink, much less cook with or wash with.

Yes, the world is covered in water. Yet, that water is not drinkable due to its salinity. Many people have this idea that we can’t run out of water, that we don’t need to conserve it, that it’s an endless supply, but that’s not true. Water is a precious resource. We need to treat it as such and I will be grateful for my access to clean water for as long as I can so that I might preclude the day when we run out.

  1. Water is definitely a thing to be thankful for.
In Germany many people apparently try to be so careful with the water they use that they don’t use enough (the sewers need to be flushed with even more water in the summer for hygiene reasons), but they cannot save it for places where there isn’t enough. It really is strange. 🙂

      1. Smart! 😀
I would probably have a hard time coming up with all the amazing things you are thankful for. After reading yours It’s, like yeah, I am thankful for those things too, but they wouldn’t have come to mind before hand haha.

        1. Haha! I started early and had plenty of time to come up with them. :p The hard part was actually choosing which ones I wanted to post about because I only had 30 days. (However, I don’t think I have the energy to do this every day of the year. 0.0)
