Month of Thanks: Day 25

Day 25: Laughter

Heh. heh.
Hee hee!
Ho Ho!
Haha!
BaHaHa!
MWAHAHA!

Laughter is awesome! Laughter shows so many different forms of happiness whether it be good or evil, boisterous or pitiful. The act of laughing shows us so much about someone. It can tell us what they’re feeling almost instantly, or if they’re faking. What’s more is that laughing is infectious.

It spreads like wildfire, or yawns, and it’s nearly impossible not to join in, especially when there’s that one person who chortles like a hyena, snickers like a snake, snorts like a pig, or squeals they’re suffocating(this one’s me. Don’t worry. I’m fine. :p). Each person laughs differently. It’s like a tiny glimpse into the type of person they are, reflecting their personality with each breath.

Then, there’s the healing effect. Laughing, even when faked, has a way of spreading and warming the heart. It can be the medicine when words fail. It can be the distraction from sorrow. It can be the way to forgive and forget a betrayal. Laughter is a force to be reckoned with and I’m so grateful for it and all the power it holds. Perhaps we should change the saying from ‘an apple a day’ to ‘a laugh a day’ because that’s how powerful a laugh it is.

“Laughter is poison to fear.”
― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

  1. Laughter is so healing. I don’t laugh enough but know that even if I fake laughter, I lighten up. Love the list of your thanks – I can see freedom on the list. 🙂
