Christmas Cookies
One of the most idyllic activities for Christmas is baking cookies! Yum! ^.^ We bake cookies for shut-ins. We bake cookies for fundraisers. However, the most common reason to bake cookies is for Santa!
We bake sugar cookies or chocolate chip and place them on a platter just by the fire. We even set a glass of milk nearby to help wash down the sugary goodness. It’s our little way of repaying Santa for all the wonderful gifts he brings us in the night and leaves underneath our tree.
And it’s one of those traditions that I’d like to keep in my family and my household. The cookies don’t have to be for Santa. They don’t have to be for anyone at all besides the people in the house, because the cookie-making is the more important part than the cookie-eating.
Cooking-making brings people together. Everyone gets to play a role: mixing, placing, shaping, watching them bake, frosting, sprinkling, and decorating in every way. There’s so much to do. There’s also a lot of fun to be had because two people will always make different cookies even if given the same shape or type of cookie. It’s an activity that brings everyone together. It’s an activity that everyone can have fun with and show off their unique cookies, and it ends with the sweetest reward: eating them. :p
This year I made chocolate chip cookies, vanilla-butter sugar cookies, and white chocolate chip cranberry oatmeal cookies. Yum!

Haha! Yay! ^.^ Glad my posts make you feel festive. I think I’m still missing some of the spirit myself, but that could be due to the lack of snow. >.> Darn global warming.
