Days of Christmas

On the 24th day of Christmas…

Let’s get ready to PART-EH!

advent24Parties are always so much fun and we’re always looking for reasons (or excuses really) to throw a party. Holidays happen to be great opportunities for said parties. In my family, we were always the hosts of a New Years Eve party. My parents would invite their friends, and the parents of my friends, and my friends would come over and we’d all play games. By games I mean cards. Cards was a popular activity in my household and one of the prime events of the evening. The adults would play Euchre, a game of us Michiganians, and Doppelkopf, a German card game.

However, no longer living with my parents meant not being able to attend, not that they had parties anymore. People grew up. People grew apart. Parties were a lot of work, and that’s okay. I have the memories to remind me of all the good times I had and perhaps in the future I’ll be able to have parties of my own. For now, though, I’m stuck with my brother and his sister-in-law. :p

In my sister-in-law’s family, they trade holidays. She and my brother picked Christmas Eve, while her parents got Thanksgiving, and her brother got Easter. And that means this Christmas Eve, (aka today), they’ll be hosting a party at the house with their friends and her family. Additionally, since I live there, that obligates me to be present, accounted for, and helpful. -.-

Just kidding! I’m really excited about this party! I get along well with her friends and her family (and my dad is in town for Christmas, too ^.^) No doubt there’s going to be lots of food(Chex Mix and cookies), lots of games(Apples to Apples or perhaps Cards Against Humanity[uh-oh]), lots of chatting and jabbering(those people LOVE to talk), maybe some Christmas carols(that’ll be sung purposely and obnoxiously off-key). :p All in all, I think tonight will be lots of fun and the best part’s knowing that, after all the festivities are over, I get to fall into bed and pass out with Christmas to wake to in the morning.

Merry Christmas! Now let’s eat!
