Dimming light cast through the large windows, illuminating the whole of the room. Yet, shadows clung to the corners, and she to them.
Her steps were precise. They danced about the edge of the lengthening sunshine, skirting the brightness until she found herself beside a velvet, mauve drape. Thin fingers extended. Running along the edge, she pulled it away to reveal the wall behind.
It stood ominous. Solid rock greeted her and yet she treated it as though it were a door, sliding a hand along the surface to find a notch.
She cast a glance over her shoulder, sapphire eyes scanning the hall. No one accompanied her. No one followed her. With that reassurance she slipped into the darkness leaving no trace of having been there.
