Top Ten Tuesday: Freebie! (Jan. 26, 2016)

Freebie Week! I’m way excited for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday brought to us by The Broke and the Bookish! My theme this week is ‘Movie Adaptations for Books I’ve Never Read’. Sounds fun, huh? We’ll see!

Movie Adaptations For Books I’ve Never Read

1) Fight Club
This is one of my favorite movies of all time because it’s super trippy and has some amazing talent in it. I also just love the grunge style. However, I had NO idea that this was originally a book. I know, right?! I live on another planet or something, but either way, I had no idea. Which means, it’s officially on my TBR because the movie was amazing. So, naturally, I have to read the genius that is the book! ^.^

2) The Fault in Our Stars
Opposite case here. I knew this was a book. People talk about it ALL OVER the place because apparently John Green is the best thing since sliced bread. However, I’m not a huge fan of reading contemporary. I get enough of real life in real life. So, when I read, I enjoy something a little more fantastical. Reasons why I’ve never read this book. Though, the movie was quite cute and depressing. Who knows. Maybe if I’m bored some day I’ll go ahead and read it. We’ll see.

3) Silver Linings Playbook
This is a book!? Honestly, I didn’t even know this was a book until I was looking for book to movie adaptations. Jeez. I really am out of the loop because I never seem to know any adult books before they’re turned into movies. Though, I can’t say I’d understand this book even if I did read it, because I didn’t understand the movie. I guess I’m just not deep enough to understand it. Whatever.

4) Jurassic Park
Er Ma GR!!! This is literally my most favorite film EVER! Why? Because I love the science behind it. Yup! Not because of the dinosaurs, but because they throw in a bunch of genetics to explain their movie. (Being a geneticist, makes this AMAZING FOR ME!) Anyway, I only recently found out this was a book. Heck, I probably knew in the back of my mind, but never got around to reading it. Yet, this is one book that I WILL read when I have time because I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie!! *is such a geek*

5) Pride and Prejudice
Okay. This one I legitimately tried to read. I was in high school at the time and I was reading it for fun because it was all the rage, but I could NOT finish it. I blame it on being drowned with british literature in my classes and not fully being able to comprehend what was going on. Still, I really loved the movie and my book is still in the basement (‘cuz I don’t have any books out of boxes yet), which means I have no excuse NOT to read this. This’ll be my project come this summer. It’s on my TBR. Let’s do this!

6) Lord of the Rings
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know. I’m a terrible person because I haven’t read Lord of the Rings, but really! Those books are HUGE! I barely got through Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. These books’ll take me FOREVER! But because they are a staple of the fantasy genre, they’re on my TBR. Probably somewhere like… really far down the road from now, but they’re there and I’ll get to them… as soon as I can make it through all three movies in one sitting. >.>

7) The Shining
I don’t read horror. I don’t read anything by Stephen King. Why? I dunno. Just never really had any desire to? Whatever the case, I haven’t read this book, nor will I. When it comes to this style of story, I’d much prefer to watch the movie than read the book because it goes faster and you get a better feel for it. *shrugs* Maybe that’s just me.

8) Twilight
Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.  Just… No. I refuse to read this book, this series, or anything revolving it. Why? Because it’s trash! First off, I don’t read romance. I like higher quality to my literature and this is NOT it. So, I have not and WILL NOT be reading any of the Twilight books. I don’t feel like dumbing myself down, thank you.

9) The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Again. I had no idea this was a book, but that’s okay. It’s contemporary. That being said, I actually really enjoyed this movie and I might look into reading it some day. Though, I can’t say when. It was good, but not mind-blowing good. So, it could be a while, but it’ll always be in the back of my mind somewhere.

10) Frankenstein
You can’t blame me for not having read this book yet because it was required to watch in high school. I saw the movie LONG before I would’ve gotten into reading and actually been interested in reading this book. Not to mention, it’s brought up all the time in my German classes (obviously). So, I never felt the necessity to read it. Though, I think I’d like to some day. Just not sure when that’ll be.
