Book Courtship Tag

courtshiptagThe gorgeous, generous, genial Giovanna @ Book Coma Blog has tagged me for this super fun ‘Book Courtship Tag’. Oo! How fancy. :p Well, let’s see what we can do, shall we? ^.^

1.) Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover?
Not Applicable. Sorry y’all, but I care too much about my money (and entertainment) to buy a book simply because the cover looks pretty. Now, I won’t deny that a catchy cover is DEFINITELY what gets me to pick the book up. However, a boring blurb negates a pretty cover any day.

2.) First Impressions: A  book that you got because of the summary?
I used to do this a lot more when I was younger: go search for books arbitrarily and see if I could find a book that sounded interesting. It generally worked quite well. Though, I’m not sure why I don’t do this as often any more. Hmm… :/ Either way, this was one of those books I picked up when I was younger and really enjoyed it. So much so that I ended up constantly checking back for the sequel to come out. *Sigh*

3.) Sweet Talk: A book with great writing?
Some people may fight me on this, but I think that ‘Delirium’ by Lauren Oliver has a fantastic writing style. Granted, there’s quite a few people out there that don’t like the premise of the book in general. Well, boo on them. I love this book, the idea, the world, the writing, the characters. I think it was very good, and the writing style was VERY good.

4.) First Date: A first book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series?
I’m so far behind on this series, but I can’t wait to read it all. I literally couldn’t stop thinking about the second book the entire time I was reading the first book and same goes for the third while I was reading the second. So, I’m really looking forward to finally reading books three and four partly because I’m way excited to see more of the world-building and science fiction technology the other utilized to build the story. ^.^

5.) Late Night Phone Calls: A book that kept you up all night?
Again: Not Applicable. I’m too right-brained to let a book keep me up all night. I, also, am very acutely aware of the fact that I’m a grumpy mess if I don’t enough sleep. So, even if it’s a weekend or I don’t have to work in the morning, I don’t let books keep me up late into the night. (Working third shift kind of ruined my desire to be up at night/sleep during the day. :/)

6.) Always on my mind: A book you could not stop thinking about?
As if my ranting, fangirling, and soapboxing haven’t been enough, I’m plugging this book again. Why? ‘Cuz it’s on my mind. :p I absolutely adored this book and couldn’t really think about other books for a little while because I enjoyed it so much. In fact, I had quite a hard time writing my review because I didn’t want to analyze it. :p

7.) Getting Physical: A book which you love the way it feels?
This probably sounds really strange, but the cover of this book is SUPER soft. It’s like… velvet or something. Whatever it is. It’s so smooth and I want to just sit and pet it… >.> Don’t worry. I don’t actually pet my book. Though, that’s partly because I’m afraid my natural body oil will ruin the soft cover.

8.) Meeting the parents: A book which you would recommend to your family and friends?
While I didn’t give this book 5 stars, I loved it. It was very unique what with the setting, the plot, the science fiction elements. It was fantastic. (Granted part of my love for it was the genetics and science behind it, but…. symantics! :p) Either way, I think this book was fantastic and it did romance in a wonderful, non-overbearing way. Definitely one of my favorite things about it.

9.) Thinking about the future: A book or series you know you will re-read many times in the future?
I’m horrible at re-reading. Honestly, I can’t name a single book I’ve re-read before, but I read so slowly that I never have the time to re-read anything because my pile of never-read-before books keeps building up. That being said, I think one series I’d like to re-read and (hopefully) will continue to re-read in the future would be the ‘Little House’ series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. This was a series my mother read to me when I was younger every night before bed, but I loved it and I hope to rekindle my love for it in the future.
