Unrealistic Expectations

Hi y’all! It’s been almost a month since I returned from my amazing trip in Japan and S.Korea and I’ve had time to think. About lots of things: school, goals, life, family, but also my blog. And in thinking, I’ve come to realize I’m wasting potential.

While I was posting during my time abroad, I wasn’t interacting. I wasn’t chatting. I wasn’t commenting. I was doing the bare minimum in the blogosphere and that needs to change.

This blog may have started out as a writer platform, a place to share my work with others, but I know now I want more than that. Likes are non-interactive. Fiction pieces aren’t thought provoking and, as a result, I don’t communicate with my readers. But I want to interact with my readers.

It’s with this thought in mind that I’ve decided to add some new weekly posts. I want to pick-up Top Ten Tuesday posts again, which I dropped while traveling. I also want to host discussions on my blog. I tested my first discussion this past Thursday with surprisingly good reactions! It was awesome and I can’t wait to do more! That’s not all I provide on my blog though.

Book Reviews

I also have book reviews, but one a month is more of a tease for you guys rather than a treat. That being said, I’m going to work really hard to read more (because I just ordered 6 more books :p) and provide a book review every Sunday. But there’s more.

I want to start taking book review requests. Is there a book you want me to review? Let me know! I want to provide reviews for you guys. Are you an author looking for reviews? Send me a mesage on my contact page. I would love to support new authors with amazing books that are just waiting to be shared.

It’s with these modifications in mind that I have set a goal for myself for the rest of 2016. I want to reach 400 readers on my blog. I currently have 271 readers and there are 182 days left in the year. If you do the math that gives me 53 buffer days to receive no new readers.

400 total readers
-271 current readers
129 new readers

Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? Well, we’ll see. :p But I hope the new posts will help and I’m looking for suggestions if you have any because while this blog is for me it’s also for you!

Let me know what you think of my plans! I’d love to hear from you.

  1. I agree! It is so easy to fall into doing the bare minimum on a blog, I often struggle to keep up with communicating with my readers or even getting around to reading other blogs. I am trying to set at least one day a week where I sit down just to read/comment on other people’s blogs and see what is going on. Looking forwards to your new posts 🙂

    1. Hi there! Thank you for commenting and I’m happy I’m not the only one who falls into this black hole. :p I actually find it easier to check other blogs every day rather than once a week because if there are a lot during the week, I get burned out having to read/comment on all of them in one day. So, I like to check my Reader at the end of the day and see what I missed. For me that’s easier.
Thanks again for commenting! Hope to read more of your comments in the future! ^.^
