Even as the night burned the blue from the sky in an orange blush…
Even as the birds flocked to their nests for the coming darkness…
Even as the fireflies burst to life, dazzling dusk with their glow…
She stood there.
Her eyes locked on the already blackened east.
Her heart locked on the past.
Her hands locked on the bouquet.
The only piece he left of himself.
Despair rushed through her veins.
Anger poisoned her blood.
Vengeance twinkled in her soul.
The stems snapped under her crushing grasp.
Inspired by artist Guweiz’s ‘Dusk‘ from Deviantart.
The art at the top of the page is too cheerful for this poem…. but otherwise good.
