Top 5 Favorite Things About Christmas

Like many, Christmas is my favorite holiday. It’s such a festive time of year, filled with family and fun, and all the wonderful feelings the season brings. Today I’d like to share with you my Top 5 Favorite Things About Christmas!

1. Putting Up and Decorating the Tree

I love when the time comes to put up the Christmas tree! A lot of people put their trees up right after Thanksgiving, which is what my family has always done. So as soon as the turkey from the night before settles, we’re all gathered in the living room putting up the tree together. I love picking and choosing which ornament goes where on the tree and watching my son help wrap the lights and garland. He has such a fun time!

2. Wrapping Presents

Maybe I’m strange for this one… but wrapping Christmas presents is so exciting! I have a bit of OCD, so I tend to be picky when it comes to the way my gifts are wrapped. They have to be absolute perfection! The perfect paper, bow, and no creases – or else I will have a panic attack! Lol. I just love how beautiful they look sitting under that tree, as well! And knowing the receiver will also love how beautiful they are brings a smile to my face.

3. Christmas Movie Marathons

Every year, ABC Family has a 25 Days of Christmas movie marathon that my family and I look forward to. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without Christmas movies! Some of my favorite movies are A Christmas Story, Nightmare Before Christmas, and The Grinch!

4. The Smells and Aromas

Ok, now you’re really thinking I’m a weirdo, huh? I know you know what I’m talking about when I say “Christmas smells and aromas”. Those wonderful smells that constantly linger around Christmas time… apples and cinnamon, vanilla, cookies baking, pine needles… the list could go on and on! I absolutely love the “smell of Christmas”!

5. Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is even better than Christmas Day, in my opinion (although my son would probably disagree). I love watching the excitement in my son’s eyes when it’s almost time for bed, aka almost time for Santa to come. In our family, the tradition is that we are each allowed to choose one present from under the tree to open. Whichever present you want! I always enjoyed that part of Christmas Eve as a kid, so I decided to carry it on to my son. And of course, he loves it too!
