Writing
Those of you who actually read these things (because I know most of you don’t 😉 ) will know that I sent my book to betareaders at the beginning of March. As such, I didn’t do a whole lot of writing. At least, not novel writing. I did write a short story that I’m submitting to a contest. So, fingers crossed for me please! 😀
On the other hand, I did do some plotting! To support one of my friends, I’m participating in Camp NaNo this April (which starts today!) I don’t got a whole lot to say because my books tend to change quite a bit from plotting to drafting, but it’s a space opera! Maybe I’ll offer some tidbits throughout April as the drafting goes along. Would you guys like that?
Reading
Boom Shaka Laka! I read a whopping SEVEN books this month! I think that might be a new record for me. :p And that’s on top of the betareading I did for two different authors. So, you can say I’ve been rather busy. 😉 It also means that my review schedule is PACKED! Which is great because it gives me buffer space to tackle some of those larger books I’ve been wanting to read. i.e. Outlander and A Feast for Crows. Bring it on!

Umm…. Blogging. What do I say about blogging? I’ve been blogging. :p Haha! I’ve been throwing out some author interviews lately, which have been really awesome and fun! And I have another one planned along with a blog tour post! I’m really trying to branch out and offer more fun bookish-related content for you guys. So, let me know what you think about them!

OMG, the public commitment! The potential for failure! An idea that goes nowhere, unannounced, on your own hard-drive can just quietly… disappear. /mafioso shrug

There is potential for failure in everything you do. You cannot let fear keep you from trying and doing the things you want. If you don’t finish your 50,000 words in one month, who cares? It’s not like you can’t keep writing after November ends (or April/July if you’re doing camp.) Besides, even if you do write 50,000 words in one month, most genres need more than that for a finished novel. So, you’ll have to continue writing afterwards and edit after you finish that. NaNo is just a starting point.
And you might be surprised how many ideas by published authors never see the light of day. The odds of a writer publishing their very first finished novel are very slim. However, that first novel teaches writers a lot. They learn from there and grow and become better.

Not really up to me if I get an agent, which is the goal. I have no interest in self-pub.

I would assume you’d pick your agent based on whom they had relationships with. So, you’d need to know the end goal first? I’m aware you’re not interested in self publishing.

No. I wouldn’t pick an agent based on their publisher relationships. I pick them based on whether they are good to their writers or not, and I can’t really choose who my publisher is going to be. I may think my book would be suited for one publisher, but my agent may pick another. It’s not really my call.
