Which 2016 release are you most looking forward to? (I know that there isn’t much left of 2016, but there are still books coming out!)

Bahahahaha! This is why I shouldn’t wait so long to do these posts. 😆But oh well! Let’s see! My most anticipated release of 2016 was… probably A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir. I had been super lucky and won a copy of An Ember in the Ashes and fell in love with it and really wanted to read the sequel. However, I have still not gotten around to even picking up a copy. Hahaha! I’m so bad at this. 😜

Which 2017 release are you most looking forward to?

Well, it already came out, but I think my most anticipated release of 2017 was definitely Roar by Cora Carmack. I was so excited about this book. It sounded like it was going to be awesome! It got quite a bit of hype and the promos were so much fun for it and I couldn’t believe when I was given a finished copy by the publisher. Best bookmail ever! 😄 P.s. It was definitely worth the hype! (And I don’t say that often.)

Do you like the bookish social media scene? Why?

Um… I mean… yes and no. I don’t like social media because a lot of it has no value or worth and it’s extremely difficult to keep up on (unless it’s your job, I imagine.) There are always things I’m missing. I don’t always have the time to be in the thick of those activities/events, but I know they are important. They are really resourceful if you have the time. So, I think it has advantages, but it can be difficult to remain active in.

If a book and its movie adaptation are both available for your reading or viewing pleasure, which do you go for first?

If I own the book, the book. I try to always read the book first just because it’s the original (and is almost ALWAYS better.) It can also offer insight into some of the items that may not be fully explained in the movie, and that way I’m not imagining the actors/actresses in place of the characters in the books. I offer my imagination more freedom by reading the book first.

Though, I have been known to watch the movie before the book and then been tempted to read the book. Such was the case for Hunger Games, If I Stay, and The 100. (2/3 were better in book form.)

Do you prefer physical, traditional books? Or e-books?

Physical. Fully. I do occasionally read ebooks as I often receive them for review from Netgalley and other such sites. However, I do not prefer them. I do not like how the page turns and my eyes have NOTHING to wander to when I get curious about what’s about to happen. I can’t tuck my finger into the next page in anticipation of turning the page and continuing the story as quickly as possible. Ebooks are just too constricting for me to fully enjoy them the way I enjoy physical books. (And I can’t put them on my bookshelf. 😝)

What kind of music do you listen to when you’re reading (or do you not listen to music)?

HA! Music while reading. Are you insane?! Absolutely not! Noise is a no-no. I can barely handle them birds outside because my brain is so finely attuned to sound, particularly music, that I cannot just zone it out. Music is at the forefront of my mind. It captures my attention and forces me to notice the change in the phrases and anticipate what’s coming next. Music is really a full-attention thing for me and deserves its own focus time. 😄

If you were offered a bundle of bookmarks, or a bookish candle, which would you choose?

One or the other? Hm… Let’s see. I don’t use bookmarks. I actually use a card from Magic: The Gathering. 😜 #GeekForLife Bahahaha! And I don’t really burn candles. (I prefer incense.) So… about that. Still, I’d probably take the candle if given the option because I’m more likely to burn it than I am to use the bookmarks. Bookmarks… are just tools. Candles are designed for enjoyment, you dig? 😂

Are you in the mood for particular kinds of books during different seasons of the year? Such as classics during the Fall, or beach reads during Summer?

Um… No. Not really. 😝 I read whatever I want all year round no matter what is popular or being published. I’m just a hipster like that! hahahaha! Though, I have to say that I really hate looking at what’s pubbing during the summer because everyone’s about the ‘beach reads,’ and I don’t really do those kinds of stories. 😕 Probably the winter is a better time for pubs for me. They tend to be darker and more magical. 😄

Do you actively keep up with book trends? Or do you just go for what sounds good to you, no matter the year of release?

Ah! The hipster in me has come out again. 😛 I mean, I like to be up to date (being a book blogger and all), but it can be expensive and time-consuming and I’m still trying to catch up on the last decade during which time I wasn’t reading. As such, I’d say it’s a mix. I know what’s going on. I can chat about those new books and the trends, but I am still very much rooted in reading the oldies.

Do you read more than one book at once?

Had I actually posted this award on time, my answer would’ve be fully, whole-heartedly, and vehemently no. My brain doesn’t work like that. However! I have been training my brain over the last few months to accommodate multiple books at once by reading them in different formats. I.e. audiobook vs physical. The difference in reading voices (mine vs the narrator) allows me to compartmentalize the stories and ‘read’ them at the same time.

What are you reading now?

When I was writing up this post, I was actively reading Zodiac by Romina Russel as part of the read-a-long on Twitter in expectation for the 4th book’s release. However, who knows what I’m really reading right now. :p (I’m actually probably reading something for work because I’m scheduled to work today. HAhahaha!)
