Dreamer’s Questions

Have you ever had a dream about a book, and if so, what happened?

Hahaha! Actually, yes. But not about published books. Rather, my dreams are inspiration for my own novel ideas. :p I get quite a few of ideas from my dreams: my chaotic, insane, absolutely crazy, absurd dreams. They don’t usually make any sense, but there more often than not some aspect: a character, a world element, etc stands out to me and makes me want to write a novel about it. Maybe one day I’ll have the opportunity to share my crazy mind with you guys. 🙂

What movie or television show have you watched, that surprised you, that it was not based off of a book?

This is going to be really out of character for me, but one movie that really surprised me (because of the plot twist) is the horror movie, The Orphan. I don’t generally watch horror movies. Cheap jump-scares and excessive gore aren’t really my thing. I prefer something with more plot and more substance than most horror movies offer, but this wasn’t one of those movies. It’s a psychological thriller than has a really good plot-line and concept. And I didn’t see the ending coming, but it was such a good fit! Definitely recommend.

Tell me about that one book you will always recommend, no matter how many others enter your favorites list.

I have to say that one book I will always recommend, no matter how old I get or how many other books I read, would have to be Arena by Holly Jennings. I recommend this book because it’s still in it’s own genre: VR gaming. It offers not only a new genre to the scifi industry, but also offers up a variety of characters with different backgrounds, heritages, and religions. It’s such a unique, fast-paced book that kept me reading the whole way through. Highly, highly, highly recommend! 😀

Jay’s Questions

What is your most unique quality and how does it materialize itself in your blog?

My most unique quality would probably be my ability to be myself. I know that sounds crazy, but even the people who say they are themselves still often sensor themselves. They’re afraid to show all of themselves or are afraid to insult someone or be considered rude or some such thing. I gave up caring what people thought years ago. I would rather show all of who I am and be shunned by those who don’t like it than pretend to be someone I’m not and have friends I can’t trust with myself. This tends to mean I’m that person people either love or hate, nothing in between. :p

Your favorite author comes to you for advice about his/her next book, hoping to decide on the best path. Which author, book series, character and plot would you recommend?

To be honest, I don’t like this question. :p I can offer my opinion on a story idea they’re already working on, but I can’t tell them what to do. Why? Because we likely don’t write the same. No two writers write exactly the same and when you start trying to write like someone other than yourself, you end up writing sub-par storylines. Thus, I wouldn’t really suggest much. I’d offer them new ideas and point out possible issues, but it would ultimately be their decision which way they take the book.

Which job in the government would you want and why?

Honestly, I don’t think I’d want a job in the government. I’m not a political person. So, it’s not really something I think I’d enjoy, nor would I really care for the pressure of deciding people’s lives. Though, perhaps I wouldn’t mind being in charge of education (whatever role that is) because then I could do some serious re-vamping on the horribly backwards and messed up way we teach students in the US.

        1. Bahahha! Mine always ends right in the middle of some really important character interaction. I’m like: “Wait! Wait! Go back! What happens between them! I NEED TO KNOOOOOOW!” Hahahaha! It’s like watching a TV show. :p

  1. Congrats on the award! 🎉🎊🎈🎉🎊🎈
I love your answers, especially the one about dreams; I have crazy movie-like dreams that can be turned into story ideas too. 😆

    1. Thank you! 😀

Hahahaha! Glad you like my answers and I feel like a lot of people have those dreams, which makes them the absolute best, but no one seems to talk about them. :p Hahaha! If I had the time to make a dream club or something. :p

  2. OOh thank you for nominating me! I’ll have to figure out who to nominate I don’t know if I know enough people! Arena sounds similar to Ready Player One which was awesome and I loved it so I think I will have to check Arena out for sure. I’ll comment again when I’ve written my post 🙂

    1. You’re very welcome, Lauren! 😀

Hahaha! I was worried I wouldn’t either, but I’ve met a bunch of new bloggers lately. So, that made it a LITTLE easier.

Having read both Arena and Ready Player One, I’d say they’re similar at face value. The themes and aspects of the books are WAY different, but if you love VR, you’ll love Arena! 😀

Can’t wait to see your answers! 🙂

      1. I may be tagging people who I haven’t actually interacted with yet but follow their blogs. I may also tag my best friend/blog-mate after I ask her if she’d do it if I did haha (I’d tell her she wouldn’t have to do the tagging requirement)

  3. I don’t know what series to turn into a board game, but I’d like to see Monopoly as a book. Only to see if it’ll still break some friendships and make family members fight in the living room. I think you already know what country I would change my heritage to 🙂 and I do no type of decorating. I get a lot of flak for that actually. Especially my dorm rooms. They walk in excited (I don’t invite people so it’s a prestigious opportunity if I do lol) and leave out disappointed. Nothing I can do about that 😀

    1. Interesting choice for a game to book. Though, monopoly doesn’t sound like a genre I’d read: a game of buying and selling, swapping and chance. Hmm… Too businessy for me, unless there’s some juicy scandal. Hahahahaha!

Oh. I can understand. I wasn’t big on decorating my dorm either. I didn’t really see the point since you’d be moving so quickly again and our walls were concrete. Ain’t nothing going up on those suckers. But I do like to throw up a few pictures in my apartments now. 🙂 (Unfortunately, they never match. Bahahahaha!)

      1. I really didn’t think of the book’s content lol. Just thought it might cause some issues like it usually does. Taste in decorating is non-existent for me; never really understood it. Just chalked it up to each their own.

        1. I think decorating comes down to the space you enjoy working in/being in. Some people need ‘noise.’ Others need ‘silence.’ They create environments in which they work and feel best. Perhaps decorating is not your thing because you don’t like lots of distractions. Who knows. It truly is to each their own. 🙂

  4. The Orphan was a pretty good movie!! and I am glad you don’t censor yourself. I don’t feel so bad now when my husband jumps on my case for stating my opinion about something in public, haha! I can be quite opinionated and frank ;-P
