Welcome to Calendar Girls! It’s a monthly blog event co-hosted by Flavia and myself, and designed to ignite bookish discussions among readers. Calendar Girls was inspired by the 1961 Neil Sedaka song, Calendar Girl, (because I’m an oldies fanatic. 😛)
Them details!
Just like the song, each month has a different, participant-chosen theme, and each blogger picks a book they think best matches that theme. On the first Monday of the month, every Calendar Girl [and boy 😉], posts their pick and links back to the hostess’s posts.
With the link backs, Flavia and I each make a master list of all the book picks for the month. The master lists allow everyone to see the other Calendar Girls’ picks and to pop on over to their blogs. Thus, we all get to chat about books and even make some new friends! I know I have!
Wanna chat some more?
Not only that, but we also started up a monthly twitter chat using the hashtag: #CGBChat! Every third Sunday of the month at 8PM EST, Flavia and I will start off the chat with a discussion question or two to get the ball rolling. From there, just use the hashtag in all your tweets and let the 140 characters fly! 😄
