Top Ten Tuesday: Finished Series I’ve YET To Finish (Sept. 8, 2015)

It’s Tuesday again! That means it’s time for Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish with today’s theme being ‘Ten Finished Series I Have YET to Finish’.

Ten Finished Series I Have YET to Finish

1. ‘A Song of Ice & Fire‘ by George R. R. Martin
   I love this series so far! Absolutely love the lore to the extent that I have re-fallen in love with fantasy again. While I’ve only read the first in the series so far I have come to the conclusion that creating real fantasy-lore is challenging and should be commended. I hope to some day master the art of fantasy-lore-building.
2. ‘The 100‘ by Kass Morgan
   Not gonna lie, I started with the show. Yup. I’m that person, but I have to say that I love the way the book is taking the series as well. I just finished the first installment in the trilogy ‘The 100’ and already see the differences from the show. It makes me want to continue to read because of the differences. Can’t wait to see what’s next when I can find ‘Day 21’ at the bookstore!
3. ‘The Inheritance Cycle‘ by Christopher Paolini
   This one is one that I have not finished for the reason that I couldn’t get into it. I enjoyed ‘Eragon’. I bought and attempted to read ‘Eldest’, but I could not get myself to continue. It’s for that reason that I haven’t finished. Perhaps I will attempt again in the future. For now, though, it will continue to sit on my bookshelf and stare at me with the bookmark still squarely in the first half.
4. ‘Uglies‘ by Scott Westerfeld
   Just started this series because I’m way behind the times and way out of the circle. So, I will keep people posted on what I think of it, but it seems to have potential. I love futuristic stories and the worlds they’re built in. Aka I’m excited! ^.^
5. ‘The Wolf Chronicles‘ by Dorothy Hearst
   This one I’m just simply guilty of not getting back around to reading. I loved the first and second books, but I finished them before the third came out and I never found a release date so I’m way behind on this one. Still looking forward to finishing it, though. It’s unique to my normal genre, which is why I want to finish it. Well, and it was a good read.
6. ‘Shadow Children‘ by Margaret Peterson Haddix
   Oh gosh. This series. Just no. I read it in school and by that I mean was forced to read it by my 7th grade lit teacher, who is a completely different subject. However, this book was one that I got absolutely nothing out of. The whole book is building and building like something big is about to happen and then it’s like the plot just dropped off a cliff with a severely predictable, anti-climactic ending that left me not wanting anything to do with the book or the series. Simple as that.
7. ‘Maze Runner‘ by James Dashner
   Alright. This is a bit of a stretch because I finished the ‘main’ part of the series and by that I mean the three books that make up the trilogy. However, I did not read the prequel or any of the other in-between books that he wrote afterwards. Frankly, because I didn’t like the writing style. I understand the need to use dumbed down langugage to give off the feel that it’s a dystopian world, but the extent that this went to was just atrocious to the point of being difficult to read. Though, I did manage to get through the main trilogy simply to know what happens at the end, which disappointed me as well.
8. ‘Caster Chronicles‘ by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
   I enjoyed the first book. I enjoyed the second book. The third book wasn’t as good, but not bad enough to make me stop reading the series and then I started the fourth book and just stopped. I tried and I tried and I tried, but I couldn’t get through it. The beginning of the book was so dry and slow that reading the next 400 pages wasn’t going to be possible for me. So I have yet to finish this series. Maybe some day I will come back to this and finish the last book, but for now it’s going to sit on my shelf with a bookmark still on the page I last tried to read.
9. ‘The Giver Quartet‘ by Lois Lowry
   Two reasons why I haven’t read this series yet: 1) I didn’t know it existed until recently and 2) I had no idea it was a series. :p Yup, I was way out of the loop on this one, but given that I loved the movie, (yeah, I watched it first. don’t judge. or do, up to you. haha) I decided that it would be a good idea to read this book and it’s a dystopian, which gives it bonus points in my book(pun not intended haha!). Either way, it’s on my list of to-reads.
10. ‘Warriors Universe‘ by Erin Hunter
    Alright. Technically, I finished the first two ‘series’, ‘Warriors’ and ‘Warriors: The New Prophecy’, which have six books each, but the authors(who share the pseudonym ‘Erin Hunter’) decided to write additional six-book-sets following different generations of the cats. I started the third ‘series’, ‘Warriors: The Power of Three’ and then I just couldn’t continue. It’s not that the plot got bad or anything. It was really good, but there were just way too many books in the series and I had other things I wanted to read. So, I never actually finished reading this (ginormous) five-set, thirty-book series.
